Concrete was poured 7 days ago.
It’s now curing. It’s commonly believed, or understood that the concrete will reach 90% of its final strength in 28 days – but talk to the Engineers, there is a much more complex side to this curing process.
In fact it’s actually never really cured….it is forever a live material and continually changing.
We don’t know what happened inside that formwork, but with board-forming (the use of rough sawn planks) to provide surface texture, we know even less how the face of it is going to appear; the aggregate moves around the grain of the boards in a much more haphazard manner than smooth plywood formwork
